It's my Birthday!!!!

"And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death"

- Pink Floyd "Time"

We'll kids, it's that time of year again. The time of year that fills me with a mixed bag of emotions including but not limited to: Excitement, fatigue, depression, and oddly enough, a little gassy. What do birthdays mean when you get this old anyway?

The first birthday I remember I had an R2D2 birthday cake (LANDSHARK!!!!11!!1). 16 is a big one because you can drive, 18 because you are officially an adult, 21 because you can get dranked legally on your birthday, 25 and you can rent a car. These are the "growing up" milestones. But on the other side of 25 there are only depressing waystations on the road to Oldpeopleville.

Last year I turned 27, that meant that I had passed the draft age. The United States government has officially decided that 27 is too old to be drafted, minimally trained, sent to the front, and used as cannon fodder. That will make you feel old.

I'm hearing rumors and rumblings on Nafoom and elsewhere that Ole Miss is in talks to play a game in the BossHog Bowl next year against a Big XII opponent. I really hope this happens. Not only because we would rule ass on another weak Big XII "opponent," but for many other reasons. 1) I would actually get to see the inside of the place without having to promise my first born to Jerry Jones for tickets to the Cowboys, 2) It's right in my backyard (even closer than the Cotton Bowl was to me) and in an area that I know extremely well (as opposed to Dallas), and 3) I had so much fun at the Cotton Bowl when everyone was here, hell I'd like to do it again. This time, because of the new Cowboys Stadium's proximity to Fort Worth, I might actually get to show my friends around CowTown (which is far superior to Dallas in countless ways). This must happen.

I started a new job a few weeks ago and it's going ok. It's very boring stuff, but the people are nice and everybody seems to get along pretty well. After being laid off, I'm just happy that I have somewhere to go everyday and I get paid to be there. I got my first paycheck yesterday and, while it's still not very much (whoever is reading this, take your salary and half it) but it was the most money I've ever been paid for two weeks of work. At this rate, Kelli and I might actually have money left over at the end of the month to like, buy food or maybe go to the movies. Yep, things are looking up in Hawkins land for once. Of course, when things start going right it makes me nervous. This is probably why I'm watching every step I take because, not unlike Wylie Coyote, as soon as I buckle on the Acme rocket and take off, I'm sure I'll run out of road and fall off a cliff.

Yay and God said to Abraham, "you will kill your son, Issak", and Abraham said, I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone." "Oh I'm sorry, Is this better? Check, check, check... Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here."

Well, that's all for me. I'll try to keep this thing updated a little better from now on. I've just been so busy the past month or two that I just couldn't find the time. Adios from Tejas. Via con Dios!
